How is this mic in comparison to other similarly priced condensor mics for vocals and acoustic instruments? I've been using one for a while and haven't had anything else to compare it to. I'd be interested to hear some other peoples opinions.

Just wondering what you guy's think of the SP C1?
Is it all I hear it is?
Or is it just another "ok" 200 dollar mic.

I'm new here and have not seen any reviews or talk about them. I have seen articals compairing it to some very high end mics,like the U87.

What do you think?

What's the catch? it costs only $300 but the .wav samples on http:// where they compared it to these mics:
AKG C414-EB, stock U87, Klaus Heyne 87, U-67

Both are multipatten (omni, cardioid, & figure 8) with tiny switches for pattern selection, roll off, and a -10 dB pad.

The Nady is similar in construction to the Marshall V67G except with a shorter, heavier body, and a U87 type grille. The SP C3 is built exactly the same as the C1. Each had 5 transistors.

Bottom line; the'yre pretty damn close to each other in sound. The Studio Projects C1 is a little hotter (about 2 dB more output), and a little quieter (again, by about 2 dB). Overall, the frequency response is very similar, with maybe a -1dB shelf around 800 to 1,000 Hz on the Studio Projects C1. The Marshall MXL-V67G sounds slightly fuller, but again by a very small amount.
