I have the opportunity to purchase a Tascam MSR24 1" machine for about $800. It is mint with zero troubles.

hello all, I just recently bought a used Tascam 388, and am trying to find out where I can go to get it serviced and ready for use.

I am in Orlando, FL - does anyone know a place that will do alignments/etc?

A friend of mine just acquired an Ampex atr-700 reel-to-reel tape machine. He got it from the company he works for while they were cleaning out some old gear. We wanted to try doing transfers of some digital material to tape to see how it sounded. The material in question is 24bit 48k two track material that I have on my audio computer.

id like to know what kind of oil to use on them

Im having the oportunity to purchase a Revox A77 tape deck machines at around $200 and a Tascam MSR-16 for $800. Both machines are in great shape. I would like to know if any of you guys own one and your experiences with them, how do they sound? reliability ? etc. I dont want a comparison on which one is better. i Know the Revox is a 2 track and the Tascam is 16. I would like your opinions.

Otari 5050? Studer? I want to start looking at adding a nice used 1/2" 8 track to the studio, but I would like opinions on what everyone likes and dislikes about the usual suspects. And if you know of any real gems that never quite caught on, too.

so i left out the biggest detail. i'm searching for an analog tape machine. 8 track, 16 if it was affordable. i'm looking for something solid, reliable...any tips for models?

I just bought a Revox C278 1/2" 8-track. It was on eBay, and there was no picture of it, but the price seemed to be right...so I gambled and bought it.

Now I've received it, and it seems to be in near mint condition. There is no visible head wear. It operates at 7.5 and 15 ips.
