Known in the UK as valves, tubes are devices that amplify electronic signals. With the arrival of the transistor, tubes fell out of popularity except for some very high-end audiophile equipment manufactures, but with the proliferation of digital audio workstations, tubes have seen a reemergence.

I wanted to get some input on which you feel is a more effective and overall better sounding EQ. I'm currently training with a mentor in a small yet fairly reputable studio who says it's usually a matter of preference. From my personal experience, it seems like you would want to try to stay away from as much digital doctoring of a voice as possible?

I have a Neumann M 147. Use this mic for voice capitation. It wanted to buy something better.
They recommended me PELUSO 251. Does anybody know something of this mic? Is he good? It would like to hear something engraving with him. Use as mic preamp Manley VOXBOX and AMEK CIB.

I just purchased the lawson L251 tube mic to replace my Neumann TL103. I have a ten day trial on this mic. Out of the box, i have to say that i am not reallying hearing a huge difference between the two mics. and i might even say that i am really disappointed. My signal path is the mic directly into an Avalon M5 then into my MOTU 2408.
