I'm looking for a 2nd compressor to put in my chain after my Gyraf Gyratec X Vari-Mu.

I use the Vari-Mu for warmth, mix-glue, and 2-3dB of compression.

I was/am considering another Gyraf, the Electro-Optical Gyratec III, but I would appreciate any other suggestions, something which main purpose is extra compression for levelling out before going into limiting. Perhaps something a bit more transparent.

    Price idea, $5.000

Thanks but it's somewhat out of the price tag, and thanks earlier today! You seemed a bit tired when I left :?

    Yeah, sorry about that!
I got a call from some tiring customors!...

You could always try going solid state for an extra comp?
Have you tried Jacobs SSL clone?

    Best Regards

Yes I was comtemplating going solid state with already one tube comp.

That SSL clone looks nice, but I'm wondering if it's the bee's knees for mastering purposes?

You can call Jacob and aks for details, haven't heard it myself.

I'm wondering if this summing comp from the SSL4000E is the right choice in this case? Hm, also I think this is one of his DIY projects..

    Yeah, it's not uncolored.
But give it a try, maybe Jacob has one around for testing?

What the heck... maybe i should give it a try... for that dirty SSL sound!! YEEEAAHH!!

I would save your pennies for a DS1. There is nothing else like it out there. you would have to chop my arms off to keep someone from taking it away. $7500

    Thanks,

How about a NTP 179-170 (or two 179-160's)?

Armed with Gyraf gear. Do you use audionote speakers too? just kidding Henrik, he gets sensitive about his speakers.

    Welcome to the forum.

    Thanks,

For mixing and mastering I use ADAM S2.5A monitors, for mixing also NS-10M, and finally some white Minipods because because the chicks dig them.

I'm very satisfied with the S2.5A's. The only other monitors I like almost as much are the Klein + Hummel O 300 D's.

My main job is production, song writing and mixing, and some mastering on the side.

Danish Audio Vikings armed with Gyraf gear invade unsuspecting internet forum? Sounds like a blockbuster to me.
