I'm setting up a home studio with a 1/2" 8-track (Tascam) and Tannoy Reveal moniotrs. I got everything except the mixer. Any recommendations? I'm leaning to the A & H mixwizard. And also, whats with the great debate over direct outs and sub outs? I thought direct outs were the way to go. I may be using the computer for some demo work too...so I have to keep that in mind.

Direct outs are great if you have one mic going to one track on the tape. But if you need to combine a couple mics to one track, you really need sub-groups. For instance, you want to take 3 or 4 toms to 2 tracks. You need to use a sub-group for that.

Go with the mix wizard. You will have to open it and change a jumper to get the EQ's and highpass to the direct outs but at least you have a choice, unlike with the Mackie Onyx.
