I use an AT-3035 from Audio Technica for vocals which I'm pretty happy with. A friend of mine wanted a recommendation so I wanted to recommend the AT 3035, but it's come to my attention that it's out of production now, so I was wondering if Audio Technica had a modern day equivalent for this microphone? I'd also be interested in hearing about why they discontinued it if everyone has positive things to say about it for the most part?

Edit: I just saw the AT-2035 seems to be their equivalent... not sure why the switch if it's essentially the same microphone but in black.

For those who have used both... How does the 2035 stack up against the MXL V67G out of curiosity?

Bro i tell you this from experience of my first purchase of the AT2020 which is the AT2035 but the 35 has extra features but same sound as 2020 capsule size.

The AT2020 was a hustler for instrument recording but not for vocals. I am sure through a decent mic pre it would sound much better but not on a wippy preamp most these cheaper interfaces some with.

Compared to the MXL V67, the V67 is a better vocal mic. It has a bigger capsule also. Its like salt and pepper the V67 and AT2035.

I would invest in the V67 all because its easy to mod and modeled after a Neumann Mic. I simply swapped and upgraded my caps with higher grade ones in my V67 for about $4 in parts from online and the mic turned into a total differ beast with even more clarity.

Do not buy the AT2020 if you are choice btw the two. The 2020 uses very cheap circuit parts and you and not mod even if you wanted to.

I do not think the 2035 is equal to the 3030. Total differ capsule size and parts

It just so happens that I have an AT3035 that I would be willing to sell you. PM with an offer. BTW - I bought it about 2yrs ago, used it a few times, and it's sat on a shelf ever since, so it's in very good shape. I also have the shock mount and even the original box to ship it in.

The high end line of AT has always been the 4000 series. If you want large diaphragm then the 4050/4047/4060 are the ticket. If you want small diaphragm then 4041/4051/4052/4053. The 2000 series sounds like crap.
