Brick into Audiodock :: best connection?

I just got my GT Brick today, and it's got a balanced XLR out.

My other preamps use 1/4 inch out, which I plug right into a line-in on the E-mu Audiodock.

What's the best way to plug the Brick in? Get an XLR-to-1/4 inch cable, or just go into the XLR mic input on the audiodock?

As long as the +48V switch is off, the AudioDock's preamp is not influencing the signal from the Brick, right? Thanks! :D

lots of cheaper built in mic pre's have a fixed added gain (+10 or something) so cannot accept real line level.. i'd think it's best to go into your line input and bypass the cheapo pre amp..

    Don't think so Jeff.
Once you are up to line level do not go into the mic preamp, use the line level in with whatever adaptors are needed.
    Keep it balanced if possible.
    cheers

    Here's what I use:

DON'T run the signal back through another preamp.

It would be best if you use any of the line inputs on the back of the AudioDock rather then the Mic/Line inputs on the front. The front inputs have mic preamp and since the AudioDock has no pad, you would likely need to add some preamp gain to get to line level which is adding another gain stage that is really un-necessary if you have another and better option to use the line input.

    If you wouldnt mind----please explain---the Bees-Balls?.
Is the unit nice-thick-rich-full--------hows the EQ? is it too much in the mid range--too much in the low range? etc......
    Thanks
