Butterfly -first vocals

Discussion in 'Vocals' started by PatientDreams, May 24, 2007.

  1. This song was wrote about a man and woman who's live's where change by a drunk driver. The couple is coming by the studio Sat. and don't have any knowledge of the song. Let me know what ya think. The acoustics are a little hollow but none the less. Can't seem to bring the vocals up anymore without modulation. Thanks for the listen and critique. Cool, Peace

I hear a lot of clipping on the lead vocal. If it was already there on the take, something went wrong during the recording. Otherwise I would try some compression 4:1 or even 8:1 to make it sit more steady in the mix.

Try some reverb on the snare. The lead vocal is a bit on its own out there. Add a touch of that to the acoustic and lead guitar too.

    Where is your bass?
  3. Thanks. Thats an issue I'm dealing with. I think with a ton of compression my vocals would clean up and stabilize quite a bit. That was me trying a new approach -(sound FX) to the vocals and trying to compensate for 1-my tone quality if any... 2 -lack of compressor. The mix got too hot but the song needed to be put out for personal reasons. I'm about ready to pull it. Bass well lets just say it's still being work on. Missing bass on all tracks. Hard to fill music and carry the bottom line without it. Drums are an issue too. Thanks for the response. It is very helpful in a few areas. Thanks again.
