I use Sony Sound Forge on Windows 7 to do the editing work after recording on a Sony PCM-D50 portable recorder. I'm wondering if these kinds of sound manipulating softwares use internal arithmetic to edit .wav files? Does it make any differences whether I do this editing work in a studio with a professional sound card or just do it on my lame laptop with a terrible sound card? It's my understanding that it doesn't matter if you edit a .txt file on a Mac Pro or on sucky computers. Is it the same to .wav files?
