Dedicated CD-R Audio Drive ?

This is probably a Non-Issue, but it has crossed my mind a few times.

Does anyone use a dedicated CD-R Audio Drive, for burning Masters, that's NOT a DVD-R drive ? My instincts tell me that a drive & laser that's optimized for CD-R, not DVD-R would be better. Is this just "old school" stubbornness & superstition? ... as usual, guilty as charged !

I normally use the Yamaha CD F1 drives that came out a couple years ago, supposed to be the "tits" of Yamaha's 10+ year history of making CD burners. They do great burns, with a full set of PQ Codes.

I know a lot of ME's love the Plextors as well.

However, I have had no problems using the internal "Superdrive" in my G4's.

I assume if the discs check fine on Plextools... it's not an issue.

    Cheers 8)

    CD.1

SonicStudio manufactures the http://www.sonicstudio.com/products/cd1.htmlCD.1 for this purpose, but I bet the price tag makes it a mastering studio purchase.

I have a few Plextor DVD drives (712's, 716's) but I only burn finals using the PlexWriter Premium CD-R drive.

Same reason - Dunno if it's any better or not. The specs seem about the same on the discs. Just feels better that way.

I've used both and they spec out the same. So there you go.
