DIGIMAX to DIGI 001 (Clock or jitter problems?)

I’ve been learning a lot reading your posts here guys.
So, first of all, I should say THANK YOU FOR ALL THE INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE AT THIS FORUM.
    But I need an advice.
I have a DIGI 001 at my home studio and I am planning to buy a DIGIMAX (Presonus) to improve the number of available inputs I can record at once (8 analogs + 8 digital).
But I’ve read some posts about problems in “LightPipe” digital connection (jitter, clock, etc). As my knowledge about these questions is limited I’m asking for any information that helps me to be conscious of goods and bads in that connection: DIGIMAX to DIGI 001 using “Lightpipe out”.

    Thanks

The Digimax works great with the 001, just set the PT hardware sync to optical, and make sure your sample rates are the same.

I just tried the Digimax-001 combo on some drums and noticed some edginess to my open hi-hat.I am assuming that this is clock jitter becase they sound smooth in the room. The rest of the kit faired well with this setup though.

I find hat edginess has more to do with the type of hats, mic's, and placement, than it does with clock jitter.

What does clock jitter sound like anyway? Is there a common characteristic or does it vary greatly between manufacterers? Is it only apparent in the presence of something that's jitterless? My ears seem to become more refined as time passes but I think I still need alot of time with this one.
