Drum software and quantinization

I am a guitar player, not a drummer. I don't own a drum set. However, the music I like to create usually needs custom drum tracks for accents and alternative rhythms.
There are tons of software drum machines around, however most are programmable using the beat grid. When I see that grid, all inspiration for recording is gone. Forget it. It always ends up sounding fake anyway.

What I'd like to do is to use my midi keyboard and tap out the drum patterns into a piece of software which will quantize the beats. Do you know of any software that will do this?

    Thank you.

Cubase 6...add a MIDI instrument track, select your drum sound instrument and pads, tap away, then quantize the MIDI track!

Thank you for your suggestion. I will looking into Cubase 6. Is there anything a little cheaper that you know of?

I think Reaper is either free or $60, but I've only used it breifly. There is also Pro Tools, Logic, Sonar, Ableton, Audacity all of which I have never used...there are lots of DAW's out there that will do this, just make sure it has MIDI sequencing and quantize.

Thanks so much. I think all of those (including Reason) will be good.
