I need to get a trigger for using on the kick drum. There are quite a few different types & brands to choose from. Are there any that are better than others?
I will be connecting it to an Alesis DM Pro (simular to the DM5).
Cost is not a priority, I want the best one available.

Most drum triggers are all the same. They are piezoelectric devices. You can actually go to Radio Shaft and purchased some inexpensive piezoelectric buzzers! Stick a couple of cables on them and a couple of connectors and voilĂ ! Drum triggers. Buy them by the bag! They work great! They also make great acoustic guitar pickups.

    Anybody use the Pulse triggers?
    Or maybe the Roland triggers?
I see some of them clamp on, and others use a stickyback. Which is better?
I need to buy the one that it most dependable. Or any brand for that matter. Just looking for a little feedback prior to purchasing

If the kick is already mic'ed try running that signal into the trigger input via a direct out or an aux send.

I did that. I read on RO and many other sites that several guys use their mic's instead of triggers. I tried it and it makes my Alesis DM Pro re-trigger again and again. It sounds like total ass.
I want to trigger the kick for heavy music. But this whole triggering thing is taking alot of time to learn.
I was thinking of going ahead and buying some triggers and try it that way. But I really need someone who owns simular equipment to tell me what it going wrong and where.
    All replys welcome

I have a full set of 8 ddrum triggers. Got them failry cheap from a metal drummer who didn't need them anymore and I love them. Great added option when recording.

Sometimes its ncie to use the actual snap off the Snare trigger to blend in with the mic signal. Nice crack off it :)

I'm def gonna get a set of triggers.
I'm just such a newbie to this type of setup, that I didn't want to get the one set of triggers that suck.
I'm sure they are out there as well.

    Still open to suggestions.....

It's a vst plugin. But highly flexible. Once you get the hang of it's parameters, and tweak them well, it's very accurate. Will trigger velocities too. And it's freeware.
