DVD+R Double Layer backups ?

We recently started using DVD+R Double Layer discs for data backups with the Plextor 716 DVD burner. Like the convenience of the 8.5 GB capacity, esp for large surround sound sessions. Both Verbatim and Memorex discs seem to work fine.

Using Toast... verifies fine... mounts fine on a Mac G4 . Basically using procedure to backup Pro Tools sessions and CD & DVD images.

The discs check good on Plextools til it gets to the second layer, which I assume is a Plextools issue, not a burn problem.

    Any thoughts, feedback, suggestions, etc.

    Thanks 8)

macs have problems with DVD+R discs, I would bet that that's the problem and not the burn. I'm sure plextools will have a problem also. I would feel comfortable with a toast verify.

    Hey Mike

The DVD+R DL seem to mount on a Mac just fine if they're in the Plextor drive.

They'll mount just fine, it's accessing the second layer that seems to be the problem, at least in G5's internal drive. I have a NEC DL and I've have no problems with the new driver.
