Do you use this, seen how it works? I have a regular stereo receiver running the sound on my mixer. Could I put this piece between my main outs on the mixer and the input on the receiver and get rid of that annoying his I hear when I turn the receiver volume up past 30. I haven't yet tested to see if in fact this noise is recorded onto my tracks, but I wouldn't be suprised if it was.

OR, is my best bet just getting an Alesis RA150, since this one has balanced ins and outs?

Balanced lines are always better. Also, kinda sounds like you need a noise gate of some sort. I'm not sure what the Alesis can do, but if it has noise reduction, go for it. Or...You could just turn it down.....Nah, lol.
