Enhanced CD

Discussion in 'Mastering' started by BrianAltenhofel, Aug 2, 2005.

  1. I've shot this question via email to a couple of ME's, but have gotten no response. (I understand that you guys stay pretty busy). Well, I'm trying to save every buck I can on my next project, but it will be an enhanced CD. If I send the mixdown CD with the enhanced CD data on it, would it be a problem for you guys to master the audio tracks and then make a Redbook master enhanced CD? Basically, the duplication company wants to make the enhanced CD, but I'd rather do it my way except I can't burn a Redbook CD at the moment.

Also, anyone offer discounts for exclusive business? I've got a client planning on doing compilation releases every quarter and I just thought that to make things simpler I could go with the same guy everytime.

Lots of guys here would be happy to do this for you. You can whip off an email to any of us for further info. I try to keep work stuff private so it doesn't turn into kaos.

i know a lot about enhanced cd.

not that there is that much to know.

the non-audio portion is just like when you burn a data cd from your computer.

as long as you understand the requirements of the format, there is no reason that the mastering house should have a problem with it.

the most important thing is that you have an autorun.inf file -- very very easy to create.

if you need any help i would do it for you for free -- no problem dude. just contact me.

    love, brandon

and of course check out my latest creation -- http://
  4. Thanks Brandon, but I already do programming for that myself anyway. I was just making sure from an ME that there would be no problem. I didn't expect any, but as they say, "expect the unexpected".

I haven't done an enhanced CD in a while, but it wasn't a big deal. I would think that most everyone here could write one.

Anyone care to enlighten me and do a quick run down on how to do an enhanced CD? I've never done one, but the info would be nice. Stuff like how to make the autorun file, what program to burn the master (I don't remember if CD Architect can do this or not), etc.

The "tricky" part in creating an enhanced CD isn't so much in creating a multisession disc (programs like Nero can do this) but in having the ability to create an accurate audio session.

Unless there's some trick I missed CD Architect doesn't create a multisession disc, and programs like Nero do not allow for accurate PQ editing.

Best to have a combination of software. A good mastering program for the audio that leave the disc open, and another for the data portion.
