eq'n vocals

    hey ive been on here before about vocals but if there is anyone out there that uses plug-ins such as tc native waves sonic foundry can you tell me whats a good eq and compression for vocals to get that krips clean sound , i record vocals srtight into the mixer with no eq right into soncar but i cant seem to get a god sound i just think im doin somthing wrong

    There isn't a magic formula for processing vocals .. it depends on the voice and the genre of the song... they are all different. I usually track straight into Sonar with perhaps a very slight softknee compression, but I don't EQ at all until I come to mixing. You can always add EQ during post production, but you can't remove it once you have introduced it at the recording stage.
    Perhaps you could put up a link to your tracks so that we can hear it and offer specific advice?

    What pre'amp are you using?...What mic?...that could be your problem...

    Try to fix the source....don't eq unless you want to make a "sound"

    When I upgraded my preamps and started getting much more picky about the mic I chose for a given vocalist, I found that I needed less and less eq on the tracks. Sometimes no eq is needed at all.
