Hello all, I am new to this forum and pretty new to DAW's, so I thought I'd ask other's opinions on my choices in gear. Here's what I'm thinking about buying:

    - CyberPower PC w/Pentium D 3.0 Ghz, Asus P5ND2-SLI Deluxe nForce4 Motherboard, 2 GB Dual Channel DDR RAM, Windows XP Pro x64, various other components

    - M-Audio Delta 1010 (possibly 2)

    - Pro Tools M-Powered 7 or Sonar 5

    - Studio Projects VTB-1 Mic Preamp (2) (possibly more)

    - Behringer ADA8000 (possibly 2)

    - Mics: Studio Projects C3, Shure SM57 (2), AKG C1000S (2), AKG D112 (2), Oktavia MC102 (2)

I was just wondering if this seems like a good setup idea. I want to be able to do 24 track professional-sounding recordings, and I'd like to have at least 8 track simultaneous recording. I'm ready to dive in and start learning, I just want to get the best setup I can while being fairly economical. Thanks for any recommendations!

    Welcome to RO!

I didn't see monitors on your list. Don't skimp there, if you can't accurately hear what you are doing, all your work will be for nothing. Also, I'd go with better preamps. Good Luck!

    RME Hammerfall Lite 96/36
    24-bit/96kHz PCI Audio Interface

PreSonus Central Station..so you can listen back using the sdif or lightpipe out.

Self powered monitors: check out mackie, genelecs, yamahas, KrK, events for starters.

Pres: Dont get 2beringer 8000, you'd be better of with one Mackie onyx 800r. And for added taste, try a groove tubes brick.

Mics: What you got looks pretty good but I think instead of getting 2 D112s just get one and for another mic similar get a beta 52.

I looked at the Hammerfall card and it looked cool, but then I noticed the HDSP9652. I saw that it has 3 ADAT I/O's, does this mean I could hook up three 8 ch pre's with ADAT interfaces and have 24 tracks simultaneous? If so, that's a hell of a deal.

I totally spaced off putting down the monitors, but I've looked at a few, I just haven't really done much research yet. I'll check out the ones you mentioned.

    Thanks for the help everybody!
