Finally ordered the Korg MR2000SBK. Should be here in a few weeks. If you are using this already, or want to discuss it, please chime in :)
    My current set-up will be:

    DAW: Sequoia 12 > DA x 16> MixDream>Dangerous Master>MR2000SBK.

Wow, it will be interesting to hear your review of this DSD recorder. Frankly, I've been waiting for DSD to break through as a widely accepted format, still to expensive for this guy but sure looks very nice!

    Thanks for chiming in, Bret!

Appears my learning curve or ultimate deal breaker is in the conversion so I'm doing some reading and found these threads:

DSD to PCM conversion with Weiss Saracon

Korg MR2000 DSD vs. Benchmark 96/24 Shootout

The sweetest sound I've achieved so far has been ( Sequoia 12 > MixDream> Dangerous Master> AD (Lavry AD11 or Prism Orpheus) to a second PC with a second version of Sequoia. I'm not doing any sample rate conversion. The sound is amazing.

Since I got into this digital (multitrack recording) nightmare back in 1998, starting out with Pro Tools mix, 24 888, I've never been satisfied with my final mix until this current hybrid set-up. Anything beyond what I have now is a bonus so I'm trying the MR2000SBK for fun.

It will definitely make a great portable 2 track recorder for my acoustic work.

MAN, I bet that korg has more headroom than the sky! I always thought 24bit 96k files were a big jump from 16bit 44.1k in quality, but this must be a whole new jump. Let us know how your first impressions of the Korg MR2000sbk are once you've had a chance to track with it, its always great to be excited about making music knowing your sounding your best.

BTW, how does the new korg compare with say Tascam's DV-RA1000HD DSD recorder? Have you done any comparisons? I would imagine you have.

Ya, that looks really nice too! Haven't compared. Where I live, demoing high end recording gear isn't an option so I research everything to death and then some and hope I don't make a mistake. So, I've read the MR2000SBK is the sweetest DSD going but I've also read that Audiogate software might need improvement? . I haven't read any current info on how it retains the pristine sound quality during SRC though (so I can turn it all into an mp3, go figure), I expect it could be a lot better now since my source are quite a few years back. In this case, the cool thing about software is it's always being improved.

I'd love to test this thing on a brass band. I think that would really tell us a lot.
