Master Fader/PlugIn problem....

I've got a quick query that has me scratching my head at home right now.

Working with Pro Tools LE, I'm finishing off some stems for a film project, adding a bit of oomph with Oxford Inflator.

I was inserting the Inflator plugin to the Master Fader, so it covers everything at the same time and then I can happily bounce out my stems one at a time knowing Inflator is spread evenly over the mix. However there are a couple of moments that are a bit hot so I dont want them to be affected by the plugin....I can easily remove these 'moments' from the stems and put them on seperate tracks.

I've tried insterting Inflator into an Aux Track and then Bus'sing across, avoiding the couple of tracks I now dont wanna hit but when I do this it is now applying Inflator individually to each bused track meaning that its being overloaded.

    Mmmm?

So what I'm asking is there a simple way of applying Inflator across around 10 tracks, operating it via one 'master' instead of track by track meanwhile avoiding the couple of tracks I want to keep 'un-inflated' but still monitored by the master fader and kept in the mix.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

    All the best,

    G

Just jumping in sideways (and it's really early here, so forgive me) --

That plug is going to react *totally* differently being used for stems as it would for a complete mix - - Unless you're changing the settings for each stem (and are able to hear in the context of all the other stems), I'd very highly suggest either keeping it off or using subgroups with individual instances of the plug.

You could try automating the plugin, but I tend to agree with Massive on this.

    Thanks 'Massive',

    I know what you mean....

The stems are of a final mix so everything is hunky dory level wise, was just doing an alternate version using the Inflator (mainly for myself not for handover) just to give it a 'wash' of the plugin.

Is there away of creating an Aux Track and busing the plugin across the appropriate tracks without giving each track the plugin individually....want to 'share' it across....by using it evenly across I can apply the inflator sublty across the mix quickly instead of wieghing up the pro's and con's of applying it to each track.

Then tie all that to the master fader and keep those few tracks I want to keep clean unaffected.

    Thanks again!
