MOTU HD192 vs. 896HD

I've seen in MOTU's site some of the HD192's specs that seem to outperform the 896 HD. I wonder if anybody has had a chance to make an A/B comparison between these two units.

Stuff like "192-kHz converters in the HD192 are the very same used in more expensive HD systems. With 120dB A-weighted dynamic range and a THD+N of 0.0005%" isn't said about the 896HD.

The 896 HD is a more flexible interface, with mixer functions and loads of I/O, but if the converters are inferior, I'd rather go for an HD192.

Down the road, as budget allows, I'll be getting dedicated preamps and maybe a Big Ben. So the preamps on the 896HD aren't really that attractive to me.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

Have a look at the RME Fireface 800 at http://www.rme-audio.com

If you're thinking MOTU, check out the 24IO instead.
Blinding unit for the price! Ablsolutely Blinding!

We have full HD rigs in here, and many engineers bring in their own 24ios to use in tandem or even intead of a full HD.

By HD rig, do you mean Pro Tools HD or Motu HD192 ? Thanks.
