Hello just wanted to share my first post with all of you.
So I found a descent mic for a great price its the Marshall MXL 990 with the shock mount, pretty nice in my opinion. I was most impressed how well it could pick up the smallest sounds in the whole area. Getting used to it is challenging because of the sensitivity, in the past I used just 2 mics both were made by shure cant recall the model but one was phantom powered and the other was not and you could always hear the difference(more crisp and audible)..I really wanted to share this experience because its the first condenser mic I've ever worked with and was sort of curious if any one else had an opinion of this model, or any advice that might be useful.

It's probably best for us to refrain from giving our opinions because, frankly, they don't matter. If the mic is working well for you, then awesome. If not, try another.
But to your point, yes...condenser mics are very sensitive and as a result usually require more care for proper placement.

I think I should point out to you that this is actually your second condenser microphone. The Shure microphones you mentioned indicated that one used phantom power. That was a small capsule condenser microphone. Your new microphone is in the category of large diaphragm condenser microphones. And their tonality is an order of magnitude different from that of its small capsule brethren. Now all you need is a affordable ribbon microphone to complete your complement of different microphone technologies and how each have their place and application. Affordable ribbon microphones are available from companies such as Cascades. Bet you can't eat just one?

I like getting Lays. (There is nothing wrong with my English)
