Need Recording Software Advice Please!

    I'm new to recording and don't have a clue what recording software would be good to get. All that's really important to me is the recording and editing part, not virtual tracks (that seems to be advertised a lot). Just to give you some specs, I'm looking for software for Mac, and a price range of a couple hundred (preferably not over 300). If I left anything out just tell me, thanks a lot!

    I feel I'm beating a dead horse here but will M-audio I/O's work in conjunction with mbox. I got the curiosity after browsing SW PTLE systems.

    Are you just looking for software? If so, what hardware will you be using?

    In terms of Mac software, current iMacs come with iLife pre-installed so you should have GarageBand for free. Logic Express 8 is a good Mac recording package and sells for around you price range. Audacity is also free and is available for Macs (
