I am so glad that these companies are pushing the envelope. The 3.0 functions look incredible, especially with the compatibaility with protools. The UA digital card is shipping this month, it should be an incredibly powerful tool to mix with 3.0!! Between the two cards we should have power that exceeds the power of protools for less than half :D :D

I too am looking at this potentially deadly combination. :D The sound of Paris (plus 3.0 additions)augmented with UA's emulations of the LA2A and the 1176LN are enough to make me stand in line for one. Since Bomb Factory left us DX and VST users out on a lurch UA is filling a void much needed in the powered plug-in market. Let's hope that they (UA Card and Paris)work together in harmony. I think this will definitely be a viable option for bottom feeder studios without the big bucks to compete with the "Slow Tools" studios. Sorry...a bit biased but I just haven't had good experiences with PT. Plus I can't even fathom spending so much on just a farm card and the software. I'd rather buy more great mic pre's like the Paris ad says..."You Deserve It." Let me know when the UA card is shipping. I want to use it with my VST 32 setup for awhile before merging into Paris.

Aha, now we're cookin with crisco. Should be easier now to get the same type of performance out of a native system as one of them proprietary rigs.

Go for it UA! Run the monopolists outta town!

Anyone know about the current state of the UAD-1 card working with Paris? From what I've gathered, there are still issues with running more than one powered-plug at a time. :( Who has the skinny? I'm still on the fence about picking one up.

Bop - from what I understand Emu/ID and UA are working to lower the latency and resolve compatibility issues. It may require an update to 3.0, but that is a guess, I haven't heard anything along those lines yet. I am also waiting it out to see what happens. If they get it rockin' in the PC environment, I'll move my Paris rig to a PC and get a UAD, or two.

Somehow, I have an uneasy feeling about the possible tradeoffs with another PCI card sharing the bus with in AND out data exchanges while Paris' EDS cards need disk streaming access and software control... not to mention audio streaming through the CPU for other DX/VST plugins. Maybe Emu and UA will prove me wrong. I certainly hope so - otherwise I may investigate setting up a PC with Fxpansion's new plugin module (RT.FX) and a couple of UAD-1s, and an RME interface and just live with the "outboard" latency.
