I have been running Protools 7 HD on a Mac G4, with the digidesign 192 i/o, and the TDM plug-ins for several years. I now have a new Mac Quad-Core Intel Xeon and I now have a new core card for the 192. What version of Protools can I get away with. I don't need to go to version 10. I do need to be able to record sixteen tracks at a time. I believe it is 8 or 9 but two questions: Does it have to be HD? Does it have to be TDM plug-ins? Anybody?? HELP!!!

yes, if you want to take full advantage of your equipment. you can run rtas pluggins, but they run of your cpu, not the processing card. so there is really no point in having the hd hardware, if your not going to run PT HD. and i'm unsure as to whether or not LE will even recognize the 192, i supect version 9 would, but i cannot say for sure.
