Question about search engine?

    Hi!

I'm brand new here. The last thing I want to do is annoy everyone with questions that have been answered dozens of times. So I was glad to see the search function.

Except I'm not sure how to do a general search through all the different categories? Is this possible, or do I have to search through all twenty sub-forums (or however many there are) one at a time?

Thanks for helping a newbie trying to help herself!

Hi swan, the search is only available one forum at a time. If you ask yourself what forum your query would be best suited to, I'm sure you will find the results you need. If you have a specific question, ask away! You will find good results that way too! :D

    Happy trails!

    Thanks Steve, exactly.

It would be nice if all the categories were pooled into one single search window but to speed up the entire site the forum search is most efficiant broken down into categories. Unfortunately the search area of this program is a real CPU hog. Everything we can do to keep bandwidth and CPU usage down we do.

    Chris,

I'm glad you chimed in because that limitation is a real nuisance for me. Having to search each and every section individually is such a nuisance I usually don't even bother. If there's any way you could allow a global search, I'm sure I'm not the only person who'd appreciate it! :tu:
