Recording Guitar

Discussion in 'Guitars' started by zperaldrummerz, Oct 12, 2006.

  1. I was wondering what your guys opinion on this was. Do you prefer the guitarist to crank up his amp nice and loud or keep it around 3 or 4 when recording? or does it really just depend on the style of music, and/or the amp the guitarist is using. Also are there any other tips that could help inprove the guitar recording?

Basically, you get the rig to the level of tone the player is wanting and deal with it. Putting an amp on "3" or "4" when the dude is used to getting
his tone on "9" or so is just not gonna cut it. This is a hurdle that a LOT of engineers who don't play geetar have to learn to deal with...more later...
  3. Yea, I do play some guitar, but i do realize that the tone can be affected by the volume alone, i'm guessing this is just one of those things thats just gonna come from experience.
