I am currently using SONAR 7 Producer Ed.,
and MOTU 828 mkII for audio interface.

I use SONAR for vocal recording.
    My aim is:
Record dry signal, but give some reverb effect to singer during recording.

What's the traditional setting to achieve, without latency?

    My current setting is:
    1. use cuemix console to echo the incoming dry signal immediately back to singer's headphone(signal without passing thru SONAR)
    2. in SONAR, use input monitoring to echo only wet reverb signal(without any dry signal) to singer's headphone, but with very low level. It's because there is latency when signal passing thru SONAR, but this latency will be implicit when only wet reverb signal is sounded.

It works fine, and I can record the dry signal also.
However, is it a traditional way/people usally do that?

    Please comment, thanks!! :D

I use sonar, I have tried to echo thing. The latency made me ill. This is probably due to the fact I use outboard USB gear. Cheap. :p

I would have to hear your hardware to know if the latency is an issue.

Depends, way back in the day it was the room you were in. Nowadays its outboard reverb units. Rack gear.

You can approximate with plugins... Refer to line 3.
