Is it normal for the VST effects to be much quieter in Exported audio, than they were when you were monitoring them?

    No it is not normal.
See what configuration of buses you have made
for Effects in your Send Effect page.

I have been trying to contact Steinberg. I bought the full version of Cubase and I sent in my challenge codes 4 weeks ago. Obviously my trial period has expired. I am left with a box full of crap w/o the response codes

Does anybody know how to contact Steinberg?

Good luck getting through Tom. They usually put you on hold for at least thirty minutes. Then when they finally answer they usually don't sound too happy.
