Kristal Audio Engine. It's free. So, it's perfect for your lack of budget.

Then you can download free EFFECTS plugins here:

Make sure you download, install and set asio4all as your audio engine in Kristal:

Get the Pro Tools with the hardware bundle that comes with 30 hours of Engineer time.

    Alrighty then:

$13000 comes with ProTools HD and an awesome plug in suite.

You'll need something for input so:

You could probably get a bundle though and get a control surface as well :

That will make the USB mic really shine. :)

+1 on the HD system. If money was no object I would go that way.

I'm also wondering what is "a high quality pc mic"?

I did not know you could say "high quality" and "pc mic" in the same sentence.

thank you very much hueseph.. Now for those of you who are retarded:

Obviously it isnt a good a mic as others but for a general usage pc mic it was the best available logitc there was.. AND the reason i wanted the best software is, i will get it free from my sources.. i just didnt know what was the best available. Obviously if i was throwing money at this i would hget the hardware 1st. (not that its anyones business here)

Uh-huh. That explains that. A high-quality Logitech. Price IS no object with...PIRATED SOFTWARE. And now we know who's retarded.

    Go away.

Uh huh. I thought so too. Well have fun trying to install ProTools on your computer. I seriously hope you are thirteen or under because your attitude puts you around that age. You're not the only one who knows about peer to peer. No really it's true. I know what bittorrent is too.

Hey maybe he can really get good software for free he might be loaded. obviously buying things within your budget are a thing of the past
but look , if you CAN get free legit software, and you want the best there is for your pc dynamic mic
...think outside the box , why get software, get HARDware
    you gotta have this instead

tell your source that THIS is what you need ! youll shine tellin every one you got this baby boy.
this plus pc mic and guitar, and Audacity as your DAW( if you dont want to pay for software ,but who cares what software you got any way you got that ssl ! )

dont steal software. unless you want to try before you buy, even then

With a console like that, you would want a couple of two inch reel to reels. Otari MTR-90 II would do....if you could find two in decent condition that aren't already being employed by a studio. Then you will need to hire a tech to maintain them.

With an adapter you can plug your mic straight into this.

    But for the _BEST_ sound, I suggest this;
Logitech USB mic -> USB port -> On-Board Line out -> SSL mixing desk for pro mixing goodness -> On-board Mic In -> Pro tools for that slick digital processing and HD plugin madness -> Ipod -> VMS70.

Your name should be capitalised, Andy.
    It's three dots not two...
It's "an high" not "a high". It's "an" for words starting with vowels and the letter H. And it's not an high quality mic... But that's not grammar that's taste.
    Capital I...
    Use the word "the"...
    Full stop at the end.

Couple that board and that high quality pc mic WITH the best software there is?

The mark will have been set too high and I may consider never turning on my humble recording "stuff" again ;)

Dude, everyone on here busts their ass helping people and shelling out money (in large quantities) on gear.
You, noob, cannot breeze into the room, ask for software, and then expect us all not to care about your complete reliance on bittorrent.
Get a job. Get a haircut. Get an attitude fix. Get TFO.

Did you know, a guy not less than 20 miles from here was busted a while ago. He had over 4.3 TERABytes of pirate software on his PC.

TBH though I agree with this. Going and getting something to use it for a project or even just for half a project, and if you like it, getting it for real, is vaguely acceptable if the company doesn't have a proper demo.
Sony Vegas has an excellent demo, I downloaded and used it for something. Hell, I'd get the new v8 platinum if I could afford it.

Hence why I use Kristal, even with all its faults (broken VST support, broken ASIO support, crappy sequencing) it gets the job done.
