Sonar? Sony Acid?

Discussion in 'Sonar' started by Kingofpain678, Aug 25, 2009.

  1. PROS DONT KILL ME! just asking for some input/opinions.

im using an emu 1212M audio interface, windows XP SP3. i use outboard compressors, eq's, and gates, and effects. the most VST plugins i would use are maybe some odd effects here and there and drum and bass VSTI's.

im recording both single tracks one at a time and bands playing together all at once.

what are some suggestions on recording software? sonar? cubase?

i have used sonar before but it seems like it goes a little too deep for me, right now im using acoustica mixcraft which is basically apple garageband for PC.

What's wrong with Mixcraft? It seems like a decent program and if you go into any of the other Daws it will get deep just like Sonar.
  3. well im gettin ready to head to college for audio engineering and i figure im gonna be gettin pretty deep into it anyways, i might as well get head start and get a feel for what im gonna be workin with.

Find out what your college will be using and get into that. Likely ProTools. Not that ProTools is the be all end all. It's not. Cubase is a great program and so is Logic......Samplitude....Nuendo, Live!,Digital Performer, Acid, Audition....They are all great programs.
  5. alright ill try, im going through recording connection so ill just be working in studio near me. its hands on learning instead of the traditional books and writing learning.

i really hope its not protools though
i'd have to go buy an mbox...

    thanks for the help
