    Hey Everyone,

It seems like forever since my last blog post but I've finally published the next installment!

Sound Related » A Day at the Tibetan Opera

Here you will find me recording Tibetan Opera in the mountains of McLeod Ganj, home of the Dalai Lama and exiled Tibetan government. As always the recordings are included in the post. I'll bet you haven't heard anything like this before!

You may also notice the site has undergone a major facelift, so feel free to have a look around and let me know what you think.

    Enjoy!

Great to hear this. They have strong voices and their pitch is remarkable. Do they listen to pop music at all? What are they singing about?

So glad you enjoyed it audiokid! You're not wrong about their pitch, it's like no voice I'd ever heard before.

Surprisingly (or perhaps unfortunately) most of these kids sit around listening to Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga on their phones... It's a little sad that western influence spreads this far.

As for what they're singing about, I couldn't tell you exactly. But most of the songs are old folk tales of love and tragedy. It seems to be a pretty universal theme!
