HAH!! Thought I'd have it done did ya? HA HA HA ....

Good things come to those who wait........................ :D

There are going to be things that will make XP so efficient it will blow your mind my friends...
I have just done an install and complete tweaking and it's ok...I'm going to ghost this XP(after finishing the tweak guide of course!!!) going to install a freshy of 2K and do all the tweaks and so forth and then judge whether XP is better than 2K or not from there...
Also I plan on doing an ACPI install of XP to see if Nuendo's reccomendation is good or not..

It should be done by tomorrow guys!!

I can save you the trouble Opus, haha. Xp's got a ways to go (no matter what tweaks you make) before it gets as good as 2k. They're gonna need like service pack 5 for XP before that happens. I'm curious to see the results though, keep us posted.

You are right ted...XP is not much of a performance boot at this point...
I'm doing some pretty heavy tweaks too...I'm almost there..just finished writing the registry tweaks and now going on to some of the program removal and special tweaks...
finding some serious stuff on the web..
as Daniel Keller from Tascam had told me about his Optimization doc..."doing more web trolling to find this information than Bill Gates ever did!" lol

So true, damned Gates is the bane of my existence. I can't even count how many times I've said "I'm switching to Linux!". I never do of course, cause the big G. man has it so that there's nothing available for linux, and if there is, it's like 10x more complicated just for the same thing.

How's the registry in XP? I've never really banged around in it. Is it bigger than 2k's?

    ;)

Good luck my friend... good luck indeed. hehe.

  7. So, it might be done tonight sometime? Hey that's great news Opus!

I was checking your site almost daily for that a while back.... and then I added a new self built Athlon XP 1800 system with a Digi 001 AND HAD TO GO BACK TO WIN ME! :p

I suppose I could just re-install XP on my second DAW system (PIII 933 MHz) and buy a second copy of XP when Digidesign gets their act together...

In any case, thanks for all the work you do in supporting DAW users.
