I saw Roy Orbison shortly before he passed away; he was incredible.

But this guy below.... now this guy is something really special.
Without further adieu, I bring you... John Daker:

Here is a cool cat from Oz...his name is Dean Bourne, he does an amazing Roy Orbison show.

Last time I saw Dean he was about to embark on a US tour...with another artist who does a Del Shannon tribute.

He does a 3 hour show, featuring all Roys' hits from the early 60's to his Travelling Wilburys stuff.

On one tour a few years back, he was privilaged to meet Roy Orbisons' wife before she passed away, who was so impressed with his performance she gave him one of Roys' guitar straps. (y)

Talk about living the dream....he got to give up his job as a postman to perform full time.

A colleage I worked with kept telling me about her nephew who did a Roy Orbison show, so I decided I had to check him out.

We both went to a Friday night show....I was gobsmacked, and another good mate and band member who came along was also speechless.

His show literally gives you goosebumps, he does a few costume changes as he covers the different eras of Roys' music which adds more to the effect.

He has a full band accompaniment of seasoned musicians, and the show is nothing short of amazing.

At the end of the show he comes out and does the signing of his CD's and the crowd lines up to meet him and also to get their photo taken with him...the full 9 yards as you guys like to say.

And what I found most profound, is that afterwards, its not about him, but about keeping Roys' spirit alive for those that adored him and his music...Roys' fans.

He is the most unassuming guy you would ever meet...and he started out signing along to his parents Roy Orbison albums in the living room when he was growing up.

Remember the name Dean Bourne...if he tours the US again, which I'm sure he will, do yourself a favour and catch his show, its the most amazing tribute to the great man himself.

I'm sure the guy will end up with a gig in Vegas one day...without a doubt. ;)
