i've got this song i'm doing that i'd like to use talking in. like, people that have said things in the media. since this is just speech that has been transferred to the public for the sake of news, does this audio still need to be licensed? i'm guessing it does, since it was still captured by specific organizations. would i legally approach this the same way i would for regular music samples? thanks, Reuben

Most audio and video that is put out by Television and Radio stations is copyrighted. Public announcements by clebrities is not copyrighted but the broadcast maybe.

    You might look here http://www.centerforsocialmedia.org/resources/fair_use/

and any site having to do with fair use.

If this is a legal question I would suggest a lawyer be consulted as they are the only ones that could make a decision based on what you are presenting to them.

    Best of luck!
