Anyone ever use a vari-mu type of comp for cutting vox?
Sure, A lot of times. And if I don't use it for recording I may very well use it on mixing.
I love the vari-Mu. If you set it right there are almost no compression artifacts heard.
It's also a great mastering tool. It can be used to "glue" a mix together.
i really like this unit -how does it differ in sound from the elop
I've used it a few times....and you can get it to pump..but under smaller amounts of compression it's pretty transparent.
I didn't like it though.....and won't use it for vox unless I don't have something better...
It's not a bad comp..just didn't have a sound I was interested in.
Iwasn't speaking specifically of the Manley unit but of vari mu style comps in general..but thanks for the info so far!
