Wav file is distorted please help!!!

Discussion in 'Recording' started by ambientnewworld, Sep 10, 2008.

  1. Hi. I was mixing some files in Adobe Audition 3 as 1 long wav file. I finished the mix and it sounds awful. It sounded good when I first mixed it, but now it sounds as if it is distorted. I think I saved it as the wrong file. Microsoft ADPCM Wav file. What can I do to fix the mix to make it sound good? I am screwed. Do I have to start the mix all over again?

I would appreciate if someone could help me. Even fix the file for me.

Do you have a limiter plugin in your master bus? Take it out. This topic was covered however regarding Audition and certain interfaces. It may have been resolved, though I don't remember. Do a search. AND PLEASE DON'T DOUBLE AND TRIPLE POST. Thank you.

I don't know ANYONE sane who's used ADPCM since 1990, except in CHIPTUNES.
  5. sorry for the double post. The internet at the library was freezing. Anyways. What type of wav file should I save it as? I think the distortion is do to clipping, maybe I am wrong. Is there a way to fix this?

Uncompressed PCM wav. If the distortion is due to clipping, turn it down!
  7. How do I know if there will be clipping in Audition, how can I tell?

I don't use audition, but I suspect that there will be some form of readout in the mixer section. If it goes above 0dB, it's clipping. There's also probably a red light that comes on when you hit the ceiling.
