What are some of the "workhorse" plugs from Waves Diamond Bundle. I'm just curious how much mileage I can get it out of it (and whether or not it is a bunch of filler with one or two solid plugs). I'm assuming based on price alone, their stuff is high quality. I just haven't had a chance to demo it.

Let me know if you have any plugs which you commonly use for specific situations. Also is GTR worth looking into? I'm a big believer in plug and playability, rather than spending a lot of time unnecessarily tweaking. Does GTR fit this sort of description? All info is greatly appreciated.

  2. If you go to torrent websites like torrentreactor.net you can get the entire waves diamond bundle for free. I have it, the plugins are great the compressors are great. The reverbs are nice, I like the tap delay and the eqs are unreal. Its a great value for free. You can go to the website and get full demos if you actually do want to pay but try it out

I use the C4 a bit. I like the de-noiser. The L2 is great. I find most of the wave stuff useable but a bit of a CPU hog, at least on my machine. The trueverb is ok too.

For acoustic music or film dialogue, I use the waves paragraphic
eq from the diamond bundle and occasionally the stereo imager,
which I find work better than other software that I've tried.
For electronic or electro acoustic music or special effects for film
I'll sometimes use some of the diamond bundle delays, reverbs,
flangers etc. The waves ir1 reverb is much higher quality than the diamond bundle reverbs.

  6. I'm would never play 7000 dollars for the waves diamond bundle. So if I get the waves diamond bundle for free, waves is not losing any money. Im not their market. On the other hand, if Rick rubin is using a stolen diamond bundle then he might be a thief.

No, that makes YOU a thief. A felon in this case (as this would constitute Grand Larceny). Take your crap somewhere else.

You think Waves isn't losing money?

I HELPED PAY FOR YOUR STOLEN SOFTWARE.

  8. Its ok i'm sorry. Im not making any money so sometimes i'm my personal position its the only thing to do. If i would never purchase it in a million years how would me having it lose them any money?

What give you the right to use it if you haven't paid for it?

I'm not going to be making any money when I steal your BMW - therefore I don't see why you'd have a problem with my using any of the BMW's on your lot.

tweakingknobslikenipples, your are being wiped out for promoting piracy here. People here design things you promote how to steal.

Rather than editing all your piracy threads, its much easier to wipe you out. Feel free to register again, however, keep your piracy comments to yourself.

Ok, so I'm not stealing anything, so it's really a non-issue and not worth arguing about. However, I still wouldn't mind getting some suggestions from people who have em :D I'm going back and forth as to whether it's really worth the money. If there are only 2 or 3 workhorse plugs, then forget it; there's no way I'm gonna buy it.

Also, anybody have any experience with Guitar Tool Rack? How does that rank in comparison to Amplitube 2 (which I'm currently using)? I find that, with Amplitube, different presets/ settings lead to VASTLY different output levels, which is incredibly annoying. From the short little promo clips of GTR it seems they've specifically targeted this problem.

I own a number of the Waves plugs and my impression is that they certainly aren't bad, but in just about all cases there are better choices out there. For example, the Linear Phase EQ is good, but Algorithmix and PSP Neon HR are better.

The Waves WUP sucks too. For me with 3 different packages, I'd have pay close to $500/year for their useless service plan.

In the "good olde days" Waves was one of the only plug in software makers in town. As Ben has already pointed out there are a lot of new companies coming up with some amazing stuff so I would do some searching before plunking down some hard earned cash.

IMHO I don't really agree with some of the changes that WAVES has instituted in the last couple of years especially in the area of fees charged for tech support and product updates. Maybe they are getting ripped off more lately so they feel they have to make some money somehow but charging their client base for already purchased software seems somewhat counter productive.

Another company, Sonic Solutions, tried to set up a fee system called SONIC CARE and you had to pay though the nose for tech support and for updates and they finally went out of business leaving a lot of their clients with a very bad taste in their mouths. On the video side AVID charges for tech support and you have to come up with a hefty fee every year for their continued support and a lot of video pros are jumping ship and going to Apple's Final Cut Pro for just that reason.

I personally would do some searching on this forum and others to see what other people are saying about various plug ins and then try some plug in demos and judge for yourself what is the best way to go.

    Best of luck!

Take a look on SSL bundle - best sounding and affordable (compared to other waves)
