what is mid?

    i want to learn about this term 'mid' in a good explaination. please tell me what it means and what it does, i happen to see this term being used while i am reading about monitors and mixing etc.

    mid simply means the middle of the sound spectrum. On your car stereo you probably have controls for bass and treble. These are lows and highs respectfully. Mids are in between them. As much as people fret over the lows and highs, mids are very important in audio, as most of the audio information resides in the mids. Most voices are predominately midrange. Guitars, bass, drums, etc, they all sit most of their energy in the midrange. Thats why its important in monitoring and mixing.....
