Hi - I am trying to find an interface that will allow me to record 2-4 channels with a few effects, without too much latency. I had an Audigy 2 which was failing - if I threw a few Guitar Rig effects on and there was not much room before I had to bump the latency up to avoid underruns. Now that was on a system with a single core 3ghz Pentium; I now have a Core2 Duo laptop, and am hoping to get a USB soundcard to record at least a drum and guitar track, with effects. My question is: is it the processor that limits the amount of effects that can be utilised real-time at low latency? Or is it purely the soundcard? I am currently considering a TASCAM US-122L.. it as two inputs and midi which is all I really need for now.. will it do? Any advice will be gratefully received!
