Will a single Yamaha 12" Club V speaker be enough ?

    Hi

Thanks for looking at my thread.

    The situation:

5X3 meter room with most of the walls covered with 60KG dense 100mm thick mineral wool absorbers / bass traps covered with acoustically transparent fabric.

Drums playing medium drum volume (i'm not a hihat smashing cymbal breaker) + guitar & bass, to get an idea of volume, closest musical style is like dream theater, so loud, but not excessive.

I need the speaker/s to reproduce vocals + keyboard clearly and powerfully.

Will a single Yamaha 12" Club V speaker be enough for the situation above?

I've recently heard that all plastic powered speakers sounds like crap apart from Mackie / Yorkville, is there a massive difference between mackie/Yorkville and the rest ?

    Thanks
    Mike

    Hi
    Thanks for your reply.

In the room /musicians / speakers setup I have planned The keyboarder will have headphones, i'll uload a pic of the set u once I have it done in scale properly.

    Cheers

    What's the aim then?

To do a live performance, packed into one wee room with a single speaker as monitor for the whole band, or to provide a monitor for a single drummer? I thought you were going to do drums only so headphones would've been the logical choice.

    Hi
The aim of the speaker is for band rehearsal only, the plan for rehearsal is for each member to hear their own instrument the most, while the guitarist is still able to hear the singer / bass, i've done a very rough floor plan, check it out:

Please let me know what you think of the plan.

I'll be recording the rehearsals, though the vocals / keyboards will be going straight into the firewire mixer / recording laptop.

I'll mostly be recording drum parts to send to the guitarist by myself.

    Cheers
    Mike

I've got the Yamaha S112V Speaker now, got it new for £110 + £5 delivery =)

Which power amp do you guys think I should get for it now ? I also need to get a 30 band eq to sort out any hot frequencies, which would you recommend ?
