Hi! I have not to much time to deside if I'm going to buy this unit. What I'm look for is cheap mixer to start out on - I was going to get a Behrigher (bad SP), but then I saw anad for this MR1642 for $120 Canadain. It looks old but high quality, but I'm really not sure at all. Old may just mean shitty! (or vintage ) It has 16 tracks, four buses, VU meters, lots of sends. Here is just about the only image I could find. here's the other. I'll be using this primarily to record in a home studio. I currently only have 4 tracks in (Delta 66) but I plan on upgrading. I need the mixer for live tracking and drums primarily. Will the preamps be noisy? Is this a old school mixer likely better sounding than cheap Behringer's today? I actually found the manual.click here to view it. (1+ meg pdf file) It has tons of info about it..so far so good! Anyways, ANY help or advice is needed. It looks like a steal but I am weary of buying some old, gigantic lemon. Rick oh, and if it helps..I do have a audiobuddy mic pre, I guess I can use that for recording final takes... Sorry if this it too "noobie"ish for this forum, I think it belongs though.
