Default Mix Advice on Hip-Hop track

Hey everyone this is a mix I'm working on for a client, just wanted to see everyone's thoughts on what could improve! Chain going in is Shure sm7b into PreSonus Studio Channel, recorded in Sonar X1 at 44.1/24 - bit audio. I've mixed with compression and eq on the insert for vocal tracks and bussed most of them out to three seperate busses, one for additional eq/delay, the second for reverb, and the third using the antares Avox Choir plugin, and then blended to taste. Just through a small limiter on the master buss before exporting the 44.1/16-bit wav file. Please take a listen and let me know what you think, thanks!

Anybody? This is going to be a very heavily promoted mixtape and the biggest project I've done so far. I'm looking for very picky critics, please!

Sounds good to me. Is there a way to make the bass more poppy? Some more compression? I know it's unmastered.

The kick is about right, so are the hats/snare if you ask me. The bass could use a bit of a boost. Personally I don't like it when it's SUPER sub but it should be a bit more prominent in the song IMO. The vocals seem clear and fit well. I don't like the lead synthesizer at the end, but that's just my opinion. When it's in the middle of the song it sounds good, but towards the end it doesn't sound so great. Maybe mix things up a bit at the end. As far as the actual sound/mix the lead synth is lacking something. It might just be me but it seems slightly panned to the right. If that's the case, I'd want it to be more centered and the plucks (or whatever that sound is) being further out on the sides (or perhaps panning left/right). That's mainly my opinion though, nothing needs to be FIXED per-say, but it could be beefed up a bit.

I like the fact that it isn't OVERLY loud like most songs of this type would be. It's nice and clean, I much prefer that, stick with that. It sounds pretty professional to me, and a little bit different than most music of this type, so keep it up.

Overall it's quiet pleasant to listen to, and I'm not a big fan of this type of music. I've heard it about three times now and it hasn't bothered me yet. I say that because if it were badly mixed I could only listen to it once, and probably not even from start to finish. I listened to it start to finish 3 times, that's a pretty good measure of whether it's tolerable or not, and it is. Keep it clean, keep up the good work.

Thank you much for the replies dudes, I guess I should've let you know that I did not make the music, I only engineered the vocal recording and did the mixing of the vocals to the beat which was provided by the artist. But I appreciate the thorough listen through's ! This cd is still being recorded but I'm glad I have a good reference of how the vocals should sound for the rest of the disc.
