Michael Williams "The stereophonic zoom" talks about recording angle for various setups, but not for figure of eight.

What is the recording angle for Blumlein?

72 degrees. In the complete book, he discusses it. You must have the short PDF from the web.

Max, he means the Stereophonic Recording Angle, that is the angle defining the extremities of incoming sound sources such that those sources will exatclt fit between the speakers during thw channel playback in the traditional configuration.

Thanks! Yes, the PDF. So, there's a book too?

I think its 90 degrees, if you position your loudspeakers at 90 degrees as well. I have tried this and its spectacular with a pure Blumlein recording. Hopeless for most other recordings though.

Jerry at Posthorn sells the book in the US. It's $30.
