audiokid and I have been having a private discussion in regards to this topic.

We are curious as to which way RO members are leaning. Are you on PT with a Mac? PT with a PC? Nuendo / Cubase, Reason, Cakewalk, Cool Edit, etc or a stand alone system with an analog or digital console? Please share your thoughts with us so we can tailor the forum to be of the most help to all of you.. .

I was a Digi user until Logic 7 came around, sorry Digi

I have owned/used Cubase, Logic, Studio Vision Pro, Pro Tools Mix 24, and Pro Tools Le systems--all on the MAC platform over the past 10 years. I had horrible results with Cubase on the MAC platform.

'Recently invested in a new MAC dual G5 2Ghz system with a fireface 800 interface. Im now only using Logic 7.1 and really loving life now.

Of course there are some things I wish were more (and I hate to say it) "digi-like," BC that's what I was comfortable with, but 'am getting used to Logic.
I have been very impressed with the quality of the APP, including the great sounding plugins that are included when you buy the Pro version. Also, the virtual instruments, etc are very good.

I also use BFD for drums and would also like to give them a strong rec. for anyone looking for real drums--they are amazing I have not heard anything close to sounding this good.

recorder systems

Hey Kurt,
Although I"ve learned a lot reading these forms I thought I"d check into a computer base system for recording. I went to attend a Roland workshop and not being very computer savey I think I"ll stay with my BR-864. I write, record and play guitar, bass,drums,synth and do all the vocals myself. Although this fourm is a great place to learn most everything is about using computers for recording.
I know a lot of people out there are reading this and are thinking I and many others need to get with the times but I"m very comfortable with my setup and although a lot of people think of these systems as something for "beginners" I"ve been doing this for quite sometime and I can produce very good recordings.
What I"d like to see is a little more info on setups like mine. My equipment is as follows:

Peavey 8 mixer
Boss-DR5 drum machine
DBX pre
RNC
M Audio BX 8 monitors
Roland TD-3 V drums
Peavey guitar& bass
Behringer LX1200H amp
C.A.D. M-179 mike
Audix 02
sm-57

Roland GR-20 guitar synth

Protools TDM mix cube with an extra mix farm in a magna chasis with 1x 888, 1x 882, 1x apogee ad 8000, a 1622 and a unitor 8 usb. All running on a dual 1.2 gig dual boot g4 with os9 and 10. Logic 6.4 and 7, Protools 5 and 6. An Antec PC sever case with an Asus mb and an amd 2800 barton, 1 gig of dual channel ddr400, 2 ultrawide drives and a M audio delta 1010. I run vstack on the pc as a softsynth server, but I also have reason 3, cubase3, alberton live 5 and heaps of softsynths. I use moto mach 5 on both boxes and trigger the softsynths from logic on the mac, which id spidf connected to the 1622. Both systems have external 200 meg oxford firewire drives where I keep my sample libraries. I also have a g4 1.2 gig I book with a m audio firewire 410 and a mbox which i bought 4 tools before m powered tools was available.
