I'm looking to try a stereo room mic set up on the drums for an up coming session I'm doing.

Just wondering if anyone has expereience with this. I'm not sure weather to go with a coincident pair or a spaced pair. I don't have the ability to do a MS techniques.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

I assume by "coincident pair" you mean an XY pair. M/S mic'ing is also a coincident alignment.

Really depends on what your room sounds like and what you want to achieve.

I generally use XY on my stereo drum room mics. Just be careful to not get the panning mixed up on these cause it makes the drums sound really sloppy when the left room mic is panned to the right side.

I usually use a SDC matched set for rooms (right now im using rode nt5s, sometimes i use octava mc012s or something like a km184 if available)
