Does anyone here have any experience with CRane Song's equipment, particularly the Flamingo and HEDD 192? I can't find a soul in the great ::cough:: state of New Hampshire that has a unit to try out. Anyone know how they compare to GML, Avalon, etc.? Thanks!

I use a Flamingo, 2 Trakkers & a Spider, but I don't have any GML or Avalon to compare them with. FWIW I like the Crane Song stuff better than the Apogee & Earthworks I also have (except for certain classical applications where I like pairing the Earthworks mics & pre-amp). What is it you want to know? As far as I know, there is nothing else that does what the Spider does - 8 world class mic pre-amps, 10 channels of world class A/D conversion, 10 channels of analog tape emulation and an 8 x 2 mixer.

Do you use the STC-8 across the drums?, the master? or however?

I have a Flamingo and a 2022. The CSF can have a bit more of an attitude and the 2022 is transparent. Use 'em both all the time. The CSF can be transparent as well. The 2022 has an impedence switch which changes the sound of my older U87. Glad I've got 'em both :)

Hee hee... A few more positive comments and I'm sold... Thanks for the feedback guys.

Digitmus... I am mostly curious as to how the Flamingo compares to other world-class preamps as far as sound quality and flexibility. I need something really versatile that'll give me the big sound of ultra-high-end studios.
