Hi all,
I am trying to figure out a way to make Behringer Virtualizer Pro and Rocktron Chameleon communicate in a way it would be convenient for me
I have a setup like this:
Rocktron Chameleon MIDI out to Behringer Virtualizer Pro Midi in.When I send a program change message to Rocktron via Rocktron Midi Mate controller, the same message is sent to the Virtualizer, but only the factory patches will be changed...For example, if I want a delay on patch 4 with the solo guitar sound on my Rocktron Chameleon, I am forced to use whatever effect is on patch 4 on the Virtualizer, without the ability to change this, as factory presets cannot be edited
What I want to to is to change the User presets rather than the Factory presets via Rocktron Midi mate, so I can edit effects that would suit my Rocktron patches...is this possible at all and would anyone who have an idea on what I should do please help?
thank you very much!

It might be possible, but you will need to make some changes. This info may or may not be relevant. I don't know what the MIDI implementation specs are for these devices.

Most devices have multiple banks of programs. These can be split up many different ways. In your case, you have a preset bank and a user bank.

I'm guessing that you are using presets #4 on the Rocktron and when you switch to it, the Behringer also switches to preset #4.

To get the Behringer to change properly, you would need to not only send it a program changes but also a bank change. BUT, you can't do that because it would also change the bank in the Rocktron.

So here's what you do. Create a user program on the Rocktron (if possible) that uses the same bank/program number as the effect on the Behringer. Then when you change programs, it should change both devices properly.

AGAIN... I am not familiar with the MIDI setup of either of those devices and what I describe above, may not be possible.

it suits me perfectly to have patch 4 on the Behringer together with the patch 4 on the Rocktron
let's say patch 4 on the Rocktron is a solo sound..I would then put some nice delay on the patch 4 on the Behringer...but I cannot change it..it's factory preset marked with "I"...if I could have user presets marked with "U" to change together with the Rocktron that would be perfect, because I could then edit patch 4 on the Virtualizer..but I haven't found a way to make the Virtualizer change the user presets instead of the factory presets when sending MIDI messages from Midi Mate via Rocktron Chameleon...this is the problem
I have also sent an email to Behringer, I hope they will help
thanks a lot for your input!!!!!

I looked at the MIDI implementation for the Behringer unit. It doesn't have a way of changing user banks. The MIDI program change numbers are 1-100 for both the Internal and User presets.

Try this.

Set the behringer to a user preset....anything other than #4. Then try to change the program to #4 and see if it changes to the Internal preset or a User preset.

If it changes to a User preset, which is what you want, and you use both internal and user effect, then the best thing that you can do is copy each internal effect to it's corresponding user bank. Then when you use the Behringer, make sure to only use User presets that way your program changes will always be made in the User bank.

I have tried this before posting here...no matter what preset I set, when I send a program change message it always switches to the factory presets
a guy on the sound on sound forum said that what I want was possible and that it's just a matter of figuring out how
I am also waiting for Behringer's response
thanks a lot buddy for trying to solve this for me, I really appreciate your efforts..
hopefully I will solve this problem soon
thanks again!
