hello,

I have the m-audio projectmix and m-audio delta 1010. I'm using Pro Tools m-powered 7.1 and would like to use all of the inputs and outputs of both cards, however I really don't see how that could be possible. The setup > I/O only shows either the projectmix or the 1010, depending on what I select in the setup > Playback engine. Does anyone know how to enable both interfaces under Pro Tools? If not, which DAW software will enable me to do so?

Something else I'm wondering: Why does Pro Tools take real time to bounce to disk? I mean, if a song is 4 minutes long, you'll have to wait a frustrating 4 minutes before it's bounced to disk. I'd understand if there were hw inserts used and outboard processors, but this isn't the case.

Thanks for the replies!

You will be hard pressed to find any software that will allow you to use 2 different interfaces at the same time. I believe Nuendo and Cubase will allow multiple cards of the same type but not different cards.

As for your second question - Life is smoother with a little patience :D
Get a coffee while you wait. :D

2nd question,

there are less chance of errors with a realtime bounce, esspecially with heavy duty automation, Prior to having PT , I had Digital performer, which does a fast bounce, I used to get all kinds of Wierdness when bouncing fast, so I started to make stems, and bouce realtime.

Plus, if you get paid by the hour its a good thing !

If your on a mac it sounds like Logic Pro 7 would be right up your alley, you can use multiple sound cards for ins/outs and it has both a realtime bounce and an offline bounce (i think thats what it is called)... but logic is a bit expensive and that might not justify spending all that money on it for you.

Used to be on the mac, but didn't have the budget to upgrade from the old 400Mhz powermac. Now i'm on a PC, more or less just because it's much cheaper. Now, regarding my multiple interfaces problem - I came up with an idea. Is there a VST that does ASIO recording. I.e. a VST plug that locks onto an ASIO device with some specific channel and outputs audio to the host? Or maybe through WDM?

and video playback on linear Digi Beta's

Long in thew distant past I used a DAW that did faster than real time bounce to stereo.
I stopped using it when I discovered each time I did the same bounce I got a different result and the time of the song changed ... sure it was only mili-second stuff but it did disturb me.
Hopefully all software gets the simple stuff right these days.
