When did PT version 9.6.2 come out??? I'm still waiting for 7.2. I'll ask the typical stupid questions. Did you trash all the Digi Databases folders from all your drives? Did you trash prefrences? Did you do a reinstall of protools? Did you uninstall your plugs and install them one at a time to see if its an incompatability? Did you check the Digidesign Answerbase?

And no, knock wood, I have not witnessed this.

Try repairing your permissions, and if you are recording to an audio only drive verify the drive using the disk utility found inthe utilities folder, inside of the applications folder.

You should not have to reinstall anything on a Mac, if things get that bad wipe the disk. In over a decade of using macs I've only reinstalled due to drive failures.

But it doesn't sound like you need those drastic measures.

Your kernal panics are probably caused by a bad plugin that doesn't want to release system resources.

What you should do is remove all plugins fro the plugin folder, Library/audio/plugins/RTAS.

And test by adding the plugs back to the folder one at a time, so you can isolate the offender. And checking to see if PTLE shuts down normally.

Have you added any new plugs lately? always repair permissions after every software install.

80% of Mac DAW problems can be traced to corrupt permissions, and software not being able to access the processes needed to run.
